<B>Abstract:</B>
<BR>Industrial activities, traffic, and various agrochemical measures inseparable from the modern way of living are major
sources of many toxic organic compounds in the environment. Although some of them, like organochlorine pesticides (OCPs)
and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), have been removed from the market due to their health and environmental effects and
their persistence, they are still ubiquitous contaminants. Therefore, they have become a major issue of environmental
research in order to investigate the level of their occurrence, biochemical and toxic effects, human exposure, and health
risk assessment. The aim of this work was to determine the contents of OCPs and PCBs in wheat grain, bran, edible oil, and
sugar beet and its products due to control their potential influence on human health. Samples were prepared by a proposed
modification of method for isolation of OCPs and PCBs. Qualitative and quantitative analyses were done by GC/ECD. Contents
of determined OCPs and PCBs in the investigated samples were compared with data from the literature.
